Hi! I’m Anna
& I love to travel
To make a very long story short, I transitioned from a career in Entertainment Marketing and left my cushy apartment in L.A. to travel the world as a solo female traveler.. at 45. Yes, you read that correctly. I’m pretty sure all my friends and family initially thought I was going through a midlife crisis.
Why? A couple of reasons. While I’ve loved my career for the past 22 years, I was definitely getting burnt out. I worked directly with talent (whom some of you may also refer to as “celebrities”) and I got older the novelty wore off and frankly, I was just tired of being on call 24/7. This industry has it’s fun moments but there’s no such thing as a work/life balance.
At 40 years old I was diagnosed with stage 3c uterine cancer and after a year of treatments- surgery, chemo and radiation- the works, I slowly healed my body and started changing my lifestyle. At this point I realized I had been given a second lease on life and promised myself I was going to live my best life from here on out and not continue to miss out on things b/c of my career. I also started to take care of my mind and body. I started meditating, journaling (at the start of the pandemic) and I drastically changed my diet. I lost a ton of weight (200 lbs to date!) and as I did, I naturally gained more energy and became more active. After travel restrictions began lifting from the pandemic, I started to travel again. I would work from European locations 1-2 months at a time (adjusting to working late hours so I could stay on call for people).
I had always grappled with the idea of becoming a digital nomad but I didn’t think I could ever be able to do it because of the time change and me having to essentially be on call for my clients. I started writing affirmations for myself that included living my best life and prioritizing my time. Before long, I started picking up brand clients that actually respected normal business hours. I was actually manifesting a new reality for myself.
So now, I travel and work in my downtime. I’m lucky that my experience includes web dev skills so I can have this little corner of the internet to share my travel tips and quips as a middle ages solo female traveler.
